Forum enhances consensus on ESG and sustainable industry development

The second Innovation Forum on ESG and Sustainable Industry Development, part of the Gulangyu Forum, took place on Sept 9 in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian province. 

Themed "Blended Finance for Sustainable Industry Development", the event attracted over 400 representatives from governmental departments, international organizations, financial institutions, research institutes, and the industrial sector, with discussions on blended finance, cross-border sustainable cooperation, sustainable information disclosure, and energy transition, providing fresh momentum for regional green and low-carbon transformation and high-quality growth.

The forum showcased several achievements in sustainable industry development, including the release of the 2026 China and Gulf Region Sustainable Industry Investment and Financing Annual Report, and the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Xiamen Torch Group Limited and State Power Investment Corporation Fujian Electric Power Co on promoting green, low-carbon financing cooperation and project implementation.

During the promotional session, representatives of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone highlighted the area's advantages in port environment, industry development, cross-border circulation, and professional services, seeking cooperation with enterprises of the Middle East region in commodity supply chains, new energy, capital services, and computing power. 

Representatives from CATL, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai Chambers, and X-Era AI shared their market insights and cooperation needs, exploring sustainable industry collaboration opportunities between China and the Middle East.

The forum fostered consensus on promoting deeper integration of green finance and sustainable industries and facilitated connections among capital, technology, and projects.
