A cohort of 82 Vietnamese students have started their journey in aircraft maintenance technology at Xiamen City University, as the school's 2026 international program in aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance officially kicked off.

As a globally recognized one‑stop center for aircraft maintenance, Xiamen has held the top spot in China for overseas repair services for many years running.

In the first five months of this year, Xiamen Customs recorded 92 inbound aircraft for maintenance, including 19 in May alone — a year-on-year increase of 5.56 percent.

In the first quarter, the total revenue of Xiamen's aviation maintenance hub reached 4.99 billion yuan ($731.5 million), a year-on-year increase of 23.4 percent.

This marks the 722nd since the "bonded maintenance outside special customs supervision areas" model was introduced, pushing the total import and export value under this model past 600 billion yuan.

The two partners will tap into Xiamen's strengths as a global aviation maintenance hub, reinforcing Xiamen's leading edge as a one-stop maintenance base.

A Boeing aircraft that had undergone maintenance in HAECO Xiamen was prepared to return to international service on Jan 13, marking the first aircraft repaired in Xiamen to re-enter the global market in 2026.

Xiamen Aviation Maintenance Base has grown into the largest and most comprehensive "aircraft hospital" in China.
