The Riyou 6 tanker, carrying about 4,000 metric tons of aviation fuel, docked at the fuel unloading terminal of Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport on Oct 1, marking the opening of the airport's maritime aviation fuel supply channel.
Once Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport opens in December, aviation fuel will be delivered by sea to the airport's unloading terminal and then piped to storage tanks to keep aircraft refueling running smoothly.
During transport, relevant authorities provided "one-vessel-one-plan" escort services. A dedicated support desk monitored the vessel's first fuel-laden operation in real time, while vessel traffic in the eastern waters was coordinated and weather warnings and navigation safety alerts were issued.
Patrol boats from Xiamen and Quanzhou accompanied the vessel, while tugboats guided and escorted it into port, clearing any interference with navigation.
