The Maritime Silk Road Arbitration Center of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) was officially launched back in March 2023 in Xiamen, Fujian province.

The center has since developed the Maritime Silk Road Ad HoC Arbitration Rules, which enable it to offer ad hoc arbitration services, enrich its arbitration offerings and tools, and help further align China's arbitration practices with international standards.

The center also brings together a highly skilled, international team of arbitrators from diverse professional fields, offering parties a broad range of expert dispute resolution options. Notably, it has put in place a multi-track dispute resolution mechanism, including mediation and arbitration, to address different needs and help resolve disputes efficiently.

Furthermore, drawing on its strong network of senior experts, the center offers regular arbitration and industry law training, advanced seminars, and arbitration salons. It also provides timely industry intelligence, engages in legal rule-making, promotes model contract development, and helps companies at home and abroad enhance compliance, manage legal risks, and resolve disputes efficiently.

Based in Xiamen, the center will bridge the Taiwan Strait, extend to Southeast Asia, and connect with Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Through institutional innovation and talent development, it will help make Xiamen a top choice for international dispute resolution, strengthen the region's foreign-related legal soft power, and support the Belt and Road Initiative.
