The Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone in East China's Fujian province has been ramping an innovative one-order service for its multimodal transport of freight since it was introduced last year. Multimodal transport refers to the close interconnection of roads, rail, waterways and air transportation. Under the one-order service, a single bill of lading serves for the entire consignment of imports and exports, with only one commission and one payment.
The implementation of the service is said to be tackling issues concerning inconsistent international railway transport rules, the absence of property rights in documents and the lack of trade settlements and financing functions.
According to local authorities, the one-order service facilitates higher capital turnover efficiency for import and export enterprises and reduces supply chain costs to a greater extent.
