The port city of Xiamen – located in East China's Fujian province – issued a seafood products market integrity measurement management standard on May 10.
The standard – which involved the participation of the Seashine Aquatic Group Co Ltd and the Xiamen Institute of Measurement and Testing, among others – will be implemented on May 20.
The Xiamen Seashine International Seafood Trading Center, located in the Xiamen Area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, is the largest seafood products distribution center in Xiamen and in the province.
It's expected that the standard will help protect consumer rights and ensure the healthy development of the seafood products market.
Representatives of the Xiamen Aquatic Products Chamber of Commerce and over 300 businessmen also signed letters of commitment for integrity management on May 10.
They've promised to stop measurement shortcuts, excessive binding of crabs, weight-inflating plastic bags, illegal additives, selling toxic and harmful foods and selling protected wildlife, among other things.
