This year's High-level Symposium on Maritime Silk Road International Economics and Trade Arbitration was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on May 18.
The event saw several international maritime arbitration institutions coming together to create mechanisms to resolve disputes and promote legal cooperation among the countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

They also demonstrated their innovations in foreign-related legal services at the symposium, during which the China Maritime Arbitration Commission, or CMAC, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Xiamen Maritime Court and the Hong Kong Maritime Arbitration Group.
Ke Liangdong, deputy director of the CMAC, said at the event that the Maritime Silk Road Arbitration Center of the commission would focus on promoting mechanism innovation to resolve maritime and commercial disputes, and help the regional export-oriented economy achieve sustainable growth.
Ke, also vice-chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, visited the Maritime Silk Road Arbitration Center before the meeting.

Statistics show that the CMAC was again ranked among the world's top maritime arbitration institutions in term of cases volume in 2022, with the number of cases rising 124 percent a year-on-year.
