Conceived in 1993, the aviation maintenance industry of Xiamen city in East China's Fujian province is one of the earliest in China. Over the past three decades, it has grown to become a vital one-stop aviation maintenance base in the country.

A part of the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the aviation maintenance industry plays a crucial role in enhancing international competitiveness. Through an innovative mechanism and system, the zone has overcome its developmental challenges and fostered a top-tier business environment that has led to steady industry growth.

According to Li Zhenglin, vice-president of Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co Ltd, the favorable policy of import tariff exemption on aviation materials has resolved the issue of high tariff cost for enterprises, further promoting the development of Xiamen aviation maintenance industry.
