Xiamen Port recently added a new RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership ) route that is connected to ports in the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and other RCEP countries.
A fully loaded Qingchun vessel, operated by Wan Hai Lines, set off from Xiamen Port's Haitian Terminal for its first voyage on this route on Oct 13.
The new route has been carefully designed and scientifically optimized to make the shipping schedule more efficient. The fastest route will allow a ship to reach Cat Lai in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, in three days.
The opening of the new route will increase the density of the foreign trade mainline network of Xiamen Port, assist in the construction of the RCEP marine logistics corridor, and deepen the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Wan Hai Lines plans to pair this route with another Singapore-Malaysia route under its portfolio, offering twice-weekly services from Xiamen to Malaysia, with direct sailings to Port Kelang, Malaysia. This will provide shippers with efficient and convenient container shipping services.
This will also aid Fujian province and other southeastern coastal cities in expanding their footprint in foreign trade import and export markets, expand key industries such as footwear, machinery, and chemicals to the globe, and ensure the stable and smooth flow of foreign trade industry and supply chains.
