Xiamen issued a joint proposal titled "Green movement in Xiamen Bay" on Nov 7.

That same day, a strategic cooperation agreement regarding the integrated development of ships, ports and the city for pollution prevention in Xiamen Bay was signed.

The maritime departments of Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou, also signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement for the pooling of marine oil spill emergency resources.

In addition, China's first green emergency tugboat  –  Xiamen Port Tug 30  –  was delivered to Xiamen. The three-year "Green movement in Xiamen Bay" action plan for marine ecological protection in Xiamen was also officially launched.

Xiamen Port Tug 30 is an environmentally friendly tugboat. Compared to conventional tugboats, the Xiamen Port Tug 30 uses over 200 tons less petrol and generates 600 tons less carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The initiation of the "Green movement in Xiamen Bay" campaign reflects the unique characteristics of Xiamen's local port shipping economy and the city's commitment to forging a greener future.

By deepening the connection between governmental departments and various social sectors, it is a major step to assist the city of Xiamen in moving towards a new stage of green and low-carbon development.
