The Ministry of Transport recently announced the first batch of 14 special pilot projects for port function optimization and enhancement in the transportation. The high-quality cruise terminal and the smart, green port construction improvement of Xiamen Port is the only project in Fujian province that was selected.
Xiamen Port, which is home to the country's first automated terminal, recently became the first port in China to complete the full-scale intelligent transformation of a traditional container terminal.
Xiamen Port has also taken steps to drive the new energy transformation of ships, swapped its oil-powered wharf equipment for electric ones and utilized photovoltaic power generation, all of which have made it more sustainable than before.
Meanwhile, its container terminals and passenger terminals are fully powered by shore power. The port's usage rate of shore power is currently the highest in the country.
This year, Xiamen Port has been honored with titles like "China's Smart Port" and "Asia-Pacific Green Port".
