The "Yujian Shiguang" project, the China's first cultural and commercial tourism complex base d on Minnan culture, was officially launched recently.
With a total investment of approximately 2.3 billion yuan ($323 million) and covering an area of about 216,000 square meters, the project integrates museum-style immersive performances, Minnan-themed immersive street blocks, a dreamlike forest and sea plaza, and a trendy night economy zone. It is scheduled to open in mid-2025.
Located in the Xiamen Dongdu Cruise Center Area, the project will be developed by Xiangyu Group's Xiamen International Cruise Homeport Group. One of its key highlights is an immersive indoor performance titled "Echoes of Gulangyu" (tentative name), which will be the first museum-style immersive theatrical production in China.
In the future, the project will collaborate with other key areas such as Heping Wharf and Xiamen-Gulangyu Cruise Center to establish a multi-point linkage. This will create a demonstration zone for the coordinated development of the port and shore and help Xiamen become a thriving nightlife hub.
