A total of 108 trips, an 8 percent year-on-year increase, were made on the China-Europe (Xiamen) freight train route in 2023.

The trains transported 12,276 standard containers, a 16.9 percent growth, containing goods worth over 3.15 billion yuan ($440 million) to Central Europe and Central Asia.

The exported goods include products such as LED light tubes and semifinished components for color LCD televisions. These items are from regions including South Korea, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, and are primarily bound for countries such as Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

To ensure the smooth customs clearance for China-Europe (Xiamen) freight trains, Xiamen Customs has engaged with the needs of foreign trade enterprises, opening up green channels to facilitate the export of new energy vehicles. This initiative aims to diversify and expand the range of transported goods.

Efforts have also been made to establish a hub center that would allow for enabling one-stop processing for customs clearance, loading, and dispatch.

The innovative application of the "railway fast clearance" mode, which leverages the railway manifest system, has resulted in a reduction of approximately 20 hours in customs clearance time for each train.
