The Xiamen Free Trade Zone's edible bird's nest is off to a strong start, with a production value of 133.28 million yuan ($18.53 million) in January, a year-on-year increase of 63.56 percent.
Additionally, 2,750 kilograms of raw-unclean edible bird's nests were imported, a 39.5-percent increase compared to the same period last year, and this holiday season the platform is experiencing a good balance between supply and demand.
Since the first batch of raw-unclean edible bird's nests were imported into Xiamen in 2019, the platform has imported a total of approximately 88.06 tons, with an import volume of about 29.03 tons in 2023. Xiamen port has maintained its position as the top importer of raw-unclean edible bird's nests in the country for five consecutive years.
The platform is home to nearly 100 enterprises as well as the largest and most complete edible bird's nest industrial cluster in China. It is also the largest designated import and processing base for raw-unclean edible bird's nests nationwide.
At the same time, Xiamen edible bird's nests have become the most popular in the country, and the city is the largest deep processing base for the products anywhere in the country.
