The first domestic cross-border e-commerce Xiamen-Sao Paulo BRICS air cargo route celebrated its one-year anniversary on Feb 10.
Over the past year, the route has operated 226 round-trip flights, transporting a total of 16,400 tons of import and export goods.
This includes 16.09 million parcels of outbound cross-border e-commerce packages, achieving a 100 percent cargo load rate for exports. Imports mainly consisted of fresh products such as salmon, grapes, and cherries, totaling 6,005.8 tons.
Benefiting from the growing cross-border e-commerce demand between China and Brazil, the BRICS air freight route has become a popular air link between the two countries, and is highly sought after by businesses.
"After the opening of the dedicated air freight route, not only are the costs lower and the speed faster, but the capacity for export cargo has also been significantly increased," said Chen Wu, general manager of Xiamen Lianduo Trading.
"If we export goods to Brazil from other ports, the total weight per export trip is limited to around 40 tons. Now, exporting from Xiamen, that number is over 70 tons per trip," added Chen.
