Xiamen's business environment indicators for 2023 were the highest in Fujian province for the fifth year in a row.
Out of 18 primary indicators, Xiamen achieved an overall score of 95.72, setting the provincial benchmark in 14 of them (two more than in 2022) and ranking first in the province in 12 (one more than in 2022).
The cross-border trade indicators led by the Xiamen Free Trade Zone have ranked first in the province for the past four years.
Last year, the National Development and Reform Commission held a national meeting in Xiamen to optimize the city’s business environment, and Xiamen's methods to improve its business environment have been promoted nationwide.
Xiamen has implemented new measures to improve its business environment, supporting the high-quality development of enterprises, and has introduced three sets of 141 key tasks at the city level.
Xiamen has also developed numerous innovative practices to optimize its business environment that has received recognition at the national and provincial levels.
For example, the Xiamen FTZ has introduced 211 digital port functions, including enterprise-customs interaction and appointment-free inspections, expecting to save companies over 150 million yuan ($21 million) in costs annually.
Over the past year, Xiamen saw the signing of 756 project agreements with a planned investment of 80.35 billion yuan over three years. A total of 796 new projects with a planned investment of 151.87 billion yuan are set to be carried out over those three years.
