The Xiamen Modern Terminal of Xiamen Port recently loaded and shipped 2,650 domestically-produced cars to the United Kingdom (UK), with new energy vehicles (NEVs) accounting for an impressive 91.1 percent of the total, a record high proportion for Xiamen Port when it comes to the export of commercial cars on a single ship.

It is reported that these NEVs mainly come from SAIC Motor and BYD, with 320 BYD "Dolphin" new energy models being shipped from Xiamen Port for the first time, marking the largest batch since the port partnered with the company.

In order to ensure that the ship departs on time, the terminal arranged for more than 60 shuttle drivers to work simultaneously during peak hours, with a maximum hourly operation capacity of 290 vehicles. These cars will be transported to the Port of Plymouth in the UK.

The Xiamen Modern Terminal is home to the first and only "ro-ro" (roll-on/roll-off) berth for commercial vehicles in Fujian province. In recent years, the port has been actively promoting its automobile business and deepened cooperation with clients such as SAIC MG, opening new "ro-ro" routes to Europe and Australia. From January to April this year, the port exported nearly 12,000 commercial vehicles, representing a 16 percent year-on-year increase.
