In recent years, cultural industries in Fujian province have been growing rapidly, with crafts, musical instruments, various toys, and other cultural products are gaining international recognition.
According to statistics from Xiamen Customs, from January to June, Fujian province exported cultural products worth 20.75 billion yuan ($2.86 billion), ranking fifth nationally in terms of export value.
During the same period, Xiamen's total cultural product import and export value reached 3.6 billion yuan, an 11 percent year-on-year increase. Additionally, Xiamen's cultural services import and export value surged to 8.34 billion yuan, a remarkable year-on-year growth rate of 414.9 percent.
As an important platform for cultural trade in Xiamen, the Xiamen Free Trade Zone's national cultural export base, which is among the first in the country and the only national cultural export base in Fujian, leverages the advantages of the free trade pilot zone, continues to deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan, develops new cultural bonded supervision systems.
It is also exploring a path of coordinated development through a so-called "innovation + platform + industry" model, actively opening up new channels for external cultural trade, promoting wide-ranging and multi-path dissemination of culture, and facilitating the export of high-quality cultural content.
As of June 2024, the Xiamen FTZ is home to a total of 6,024 registered cultural enterprises with a total registered capital of 34.51 billion yuan.
