On July 31, a sea-rail intermodal train carrying treadmills departed from Xiamen International Logistics Port and is estimated to arrive at Chengdu International Railway Port in five days.

This marks the first shipment of container goods via a sea-rail intermodal train following the strategic partnership agreement between Xiamen Free Trade Zone and Qingbaijiang Area of Sichuan Free Trade Zone. It marks the establishment a new land-sea transport route benefiting businesses in Xiamen and Chengdu by reducing logistics costs and enhancing efficiency.

To implement the strategic partnership agreement, Xiamen Port Holding Group Co Ltd and Chengdu International Railway Port Investment and Development Co Ltd signed a complementary agreement on the cooperation between the two ports' intermodal transport channels, aiming to expand the sea-rail intermodal logistics route and facilitate the free flow of resources between the two regions.

The opening of the train between the two ports also promotes Xiamen's expansion into the inland hinterland and Chengdu's to the southeastern seaport.

This initiative is a crucial step towards jointly building a new land-sea passage and further promotes the coordinated development between the two regions. It also strengthens the overall competitiveness of Xiamen's sea-rail intermodal transportation at coastal ports.
