Xiamen recently made a notable appearance in the "2023 Global Integrated Circuit (IC) Industry Comprehensive Competitiveness Top 100 Cities White Paper" released by the World Integrated Circuit Association (WICA).
Ranking impressively at 51st, Xiamen stood out as the 13th among Chinese mainland cities, highlighting its strong momentum and development potential as an emerging hub for the IC industry.
Xiamen places significant importance on the development of the semiconductor and IC industry and is one of the key cities in the national IC planning layout. By 2023, Xiamen aims to achieve an output value exceeding 50 billion yuan ($7 billion) and has established a relatively complete industry chain.
Semiconductors, as the primary battlefield for developing new quality productive forces, are expected to see further market expansion due to the demand for artificial intelligence, which offers increasingly promising prospects.
Xiamen actively promotes the integration of the semiconductor industry with electronic information, machinery equipment, new energy, and other industries to create a more tightly-knit industrial ecosystem.
Since 2019, the Xiamen Free Trade Zone Administration Committee has utilized the innovative advantages of the FTZ system to establish an IC industry platform in the Gaoqi Industrial Park.
In addition to establishing a cross-Strait industrial cooperation zone and a national-level "Xinhuo" innovation and entrepreneurship base, this initiative has turned Gaoqi Park into one of the three main hubs for the IC industry in Xiamen.
