The Xiamen Seashine Intl Seafood Trading Center, located in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone, has entered "Spring Festival mode", with the seafood market bustling with activity.
A dazzling array of seafood products fills the market, attracting a thriving trade in various aquatic products. The center is also the largest seafood distribution hub in Xiamen.
The daily turnover of aquatic products at the center has increased by 15-20 percent compared to regular days, with daily sales reaching up to 700 metric tons in recent days
In addition, the center has already stockpiled commonly consumed seafood such as hairtail, white pomfret, and various types of shrimp. In case of shortages, the reserved seafood will be promptly released into the market. The total reserve of aquatic products in cold storage now sits at 5,630 tons.
Xingwang Aquatic Products, located in the center, specializes in a variety of high-end seafood. A representative of the store stated that with the return of Australian lobsters, there are more high-end seafood options available. There are currently six to seven varieties of lobsters alone, catering to the diverse needs of consumers. Many customers purchase seafood by the box, and the store offers delivery services, making it particularly convenient.
Cuttlefish, white pomfret, sea bass, and hairtail are common seafood items on the dining tables of Xiamen residents. With the arrival of the Spring Festival, sales of these products have significantly increased. This year, the market's supply has increased by at least 30 percent compared to last year, and sea bass and white pomfret are very affordable.
