Gaoqi Fujian-Taiwan Fishing Port in Xiamen city was recently designated as a national central fishing port — one of 12 fishing ports to receive this honor.

Gaoqi Fujian-Taiwan Fishing Port was officially put into operation in 2010. It covers approximately 700,000 square meters, with about 150,000 square meters allocated for onshore and supporting facilities.

The port features docks, harbor basins, waterways, and anchorage areas spanning over 500,000 square meters. It can accommodate cargo ships below 1,000 metric tons and oil tankers below 3,000 tons.

Gaoqi Fujian-Taiwan Fishing Port is equipped with five operational, functional areas, including a seafood wholesale market and an ice-making and cold storage area. It serves as a key base for fishery exchanges and cooperation between Xiamen and Taiwan and is also an important platform for fisheries in typhoon prevention.

A convenient service window has recently been established for annual fishing vessel inspections and certificate renewals, ensuring that local fishermen can benefit from a streamlined process within 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, a fishing port economic zone is being developed to offer services for residents and tourists, boosting regional fisheries and economic growth.
