A shipment of 35,000 metric tons of chemical-grade barite powder was recently loaded onto a cargo vessel at the ITG Terminal of the Xiamen Dongdu Port Area for export to the Netherlands and Italy. This marks China's first sea export of chemical-grade barite powder since the mandatory implementation of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code (IMSBC Code) Amendment 07-23 on Jan 1.
This successful export signifies the official recognition of China's standard for the sea transport of chemical-grade barite powder as an International benchmark, paving the way for China's chemical-grade barite powder to enter the international market.
With the adoption of this standard into international conventions, companies are now utilize any bulk carriers for international transportation, reducing transportation costs for businesses. In addition to China's maritime regulatory authorities, the port authorities in countries like the Netherlands and Italy, where the cargo will be unloaded this time, will also oversee compliance according to the standard.
