The Xiamen Free Trade Zone, in collaboration with Fubon Insurance, launched Jianyibao in July 2025, the first cross-Strait medical insurance product in China specifically designed for Taiwan compatriots living on the Chinese mainland.

This pioneering product, part of the "Cross-Strait Unified Insurance" series, effectively addresses long-standing issues such as difficulties in medical reimbursement and limited coverage for Taiwan residents. It has been warmly received by Taiwan employees.

According to statistics, over one million Taiwan compatriots currently reside in the Chinese mainland. Due to differences between the healthcare systems in Taiwan and the Chinese mainland, they often face complex reimbursement procedures and gaps in insurance coverage.

Jianyibao introduces three key innovations. First, it pioneers dual-region protection, providing comprehensive coverage for medical expenses incurred both in the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Second, it establishes an efficient closed-loop service chain, enabling Taiwan residents on the Chinese mainland to submit claims locally while follow-up processing is coordinated by cross-Strait service outlets. Third, it innovatively bridges identity verification and insurance systems by recognizing  national health insurance in Taiwan as equivalent to mainland social insurance, eliminating disparities in coverage.

A representative from the Xiamen FTZ said that this product will ease concerns about healthcare for Taiwan compatriots living on the Chinese mainland and enhance their confidence in long-term development. The zone will continue to support and promote similar cross-Strait insurance initiatives in the future.
