The pink-hulled container ship ONE Singapore recently docked at the Hairun Terminal of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone, bringing a vibrant splash of color to the port area.

Xiamen Port has become a key stop on the maiden voyage of this new "dual-fuel" container vessel, operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE).

Against the backdrop of the global shipping industry's green transition, this mega vessel has pioneered an innovative methanol-ammonia "dual-fuel" power system. The green methanol it uses reduces carbon emissions by nearly 25 percent compared with traditional fossil fuels.

The ONE Singapore has a cargo capacity of 13,900 TEUs. During its call at Hairun Terminal, the vessel is scheduled to load 5,350 TEUs of export cargo, primarily consisting of kitchenware, furniture, footwear, and LCD displays.

On its maiden voyage, the vessel departed from Shekou, Guangdong province, and made stops in Xiamen and Taipei, Taiwan, before heading directly to Los Angeles, the United States. The vessel will subsequently operate regularly on the US West Coast route.

Hairun Terminal has achieved remarkable results in green and low-carbon development. All its quay cranes and mobile machinery have been electrified, reducing annual diesel consumption by approximately 1,400 metric tons — equivalent to cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 4,500 tons.
