The 2025 High-level Symposium on Maritime Silk Road International Economic and Trade Arbitration was held in Xiamen on Sept 8, with nearly 200 Chinese and international guests from the industrial, commercial, and legal sectors attending in person.

The China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) led and collaborated with 10 dispute resolution institutions from BRICS member countries and partner nations, including the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization, to jointly release the "Joint Initiatives on Strengthening Legal Services Cooperation among BRICS Countries and Promoting Common Healthy Development of World Economy".

The "Joint Initiative" represents a consensus reached by the participating institutions on enhancing mutual understanding and trust and jointly promoting economic and trade development. The initiative seeks to promote the diversified resolution of cross-border commercial disputes, enhance the influence of Global South economies in economic governance, and foster the prosperous development of BRICS countries and the world economy at large.

The CMAC has deepened its collaboration with the Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District FTZ Pilot Zone, establishing a BRICS commercial and maritime arbitration working mechanism in Xiamen to facilitate the release of this Joint Initiative.

During the seminar session, Chinese and international guests delivered speeches addressing the theme of the conference.
