Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport has achieved a new milestone — its maintenance base by HAECO has recently been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification.

The world's largest single-span aircraft maintenance hangar has received the LEED Platinum certification for sustainable design. The hangar is the first aircraft maintenance facility in Asia to receive this prestigious certification and is scheduled to become operational in 2026.

Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport is committed to becoming a "green airport" and a "zero-carbon airport", implementing green and low-carbon operations across multiple dimensions. The airport's T1 terminal building has already obtained the Three-Star China Green Building Design Label. The concourse roof of the terminal is equipped with a building-integrated photovoltaic system, which generates approximately 13 million kWh of electricity annually, making it the largest terminal roof photovoltaic system in China.

The airport also extensively utilizes water storage cooling technology to shift energy usage from peak to off-peak periods. The system's total cooling storage capacity is 90,000 RT-hours, saving up to 4.5 million kWh of electricity annually.

Furthermore, with the exception of a few specialized types, all newly added special-purpose vehicles at the airport are new energy vehicles. A total of 1,399 charging points have been pre-installed across the facility.

By building 240 units of 400Hz ground power units and 169 units of preconditioned air units, the use of aircraft auxiliary power units (APUs) has been significantly reduced. These measures are projected to cut carbon emissions by 250,000 metric tons annually.
