Fujian's first ship bunkering with B5 biodiesel was recently completed at the Haicang Port Area of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone. This initiative, following the previous achievements of bonded B24 biodiesel and bonded liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship bunkering at Xiamen Port, represents a further enhancement of green bunkering services and an exploration of new application scenarios for biodiesel.

Xiamen is one of the pilot cities for the promotion and application of biodiesel announced by the National Energy Administration. With support from authorities, including the Xiamen FTZ Administration, Xiamen Zhuoyue Haiao New Energy Company was able to efficiently complete the relevant procedures, establishing seamless coordination across processes such as ship scheduling, fuel ordering, transportation, and refueling and ensuring the smooth bunkering of the Xia Gang Tuo 30.
In recent years, the shipping industry has been undergoing a green and low-carbon transformation. In December 2024, the Xiamen FTZ Administration, in collaboration with other authorities, issued the "Safety Guidelines for Marine Bio-Fuel Oil Bunkering Operations in Xiamen Waters (Trial)" within the province. This initiative further standardizes the bunkering procedures, reduces safety risks, and facilitates the implementation of B5 biodiesel ship bunkering services.

It is reported that B5 biodiesel can reduce pollutant emissions by over 10 percent, with a nitrogen oxides purification efficiency reaching 80 percent.
