A freighter loaded with cross-border e-commerce parcels departed from Xiamen Gaoqi Airport on Dec 1, marking a milestone as the airport's annual export value in the sector surpassed 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) this year.
As a key e-commerce export hub in southeastern China, Xiamen is home to nearly 6,000 online sellers and has developed several industry clusters. Leading platforms such as Amazon Global Selling, JD.com, and Alibaba have set up operational centers in Xiamen, contributing to the formation of a well-rounded e-commerce ecosystem.
"Xiamen Airport offers efficient clearance, a wide range of cargo routes, and competitive logistics costs, making it our preferred shipping gateway," said Chen Wuchao, manager of an express service company in Xiamen.
As of the end of November, Xiamen Airport has operated 16 all-cargo flight routes connecting major cities in the United States, Mexico, France, Brazil, and other countries.
To facilitate the smooth and fast delivery of goods worldwide, Xiamen Customs has employed smart systems and an aviation logistics platform to streamline procedures, boosting cargo processing efficiency by 90 percent. The introduction of a fully automated sorting system at the international express center has further sped up the handling of e-commerce shipments.
With round-the-clock operations enabling immediate inspection and release, Xiamen continues to strengthen its cargo capacity, supporting the rapid growth of cross-border e-commerce in eastern and southern China.
