A United Nations One Planet Network Sustainable Business Innovation Laboratory is set to be established in Xiamen, under the Administration of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone and the Xiamen Straits Federation for Sustainable Business' strategic cooperation agreement.
This initiative is designed to help local businesses align with international green trade standards, reduce compliance costs associated with sustainable trade, and contribute to building a robust green industrial ecosystem in the region.
Both sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the laboratory's development roadmap, mechanisms for introducing international resources, and plans for empowering local industries.
They also explored specific work plans for the laboratory's post-establishment phase, covering areas such as standards research, international cooperation, and training initiatives.
The proposed laboratory will focus on cutting-edge areas, including Digital Product Passports (DPPs), research on international standards, and practical applications to help businesses reduce costs associated with the green transition and foster a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
