Livestream e-commerce from China is taking off in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. Meituowan, a company based in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone, launched livestream and warehouse operations in Mexico City last year.

The model helps Chinese goods enter Latin America while giving local brands — from shapewear to footwear — new sales channels. It's a clear case of China-Latin America digital cooperation.

A local Mexican employee in charge of live-streaming operations said that compared with traditional e-commerce, the most distinctive feature of live-streaming e-commerce is real-time interaction.

It is more convincing than traditional product displays using images and text, and the platform's after-sales mechanism is well-established, making it easier to gain users' trust.

Meituowan is now looking to bring China's established live-streaming e-commerce training system to Mexico. With more agencies operating on platforms like TikTok Shop, talent is moving around more often, and job opportunities have clearly increased across the board.

From exporting goods to exporting business models, and from one‑way trade to mutual growth, Meituowan's cross-border e-commerce practice reflects how the Xiamen FTZ's e-commerce ecosystem is extending its reach overseas.

Leveraging the FTZ's continuously improving innovation policies and industrial clustering environment, a growing number of Xiamen-based companies are taking their proven digital expertise abroad, building new bridges for economic and trade cooperation.
