A Boeing 787 passenger jet arrived at HAECO Xiamen's hangar for maintenance and inspection. According to customs data, this marks the 101st overseas aircraft to arrive in Xiamen for repairs this year, hitting the hundred-mark four days earlier than last year.

In the first five months of this year, Xiamen Customs recorded 92 inbound aircraft for maintenance, including 19 in May alone — a year-on-year increase of 5.56 percent.

Xiamen has built a major aviation maintenance hub, hosting global players like HAECO Xiamen, ST Engineering Aerospace, and Honeywell. Its capabilities span heavy airframe maintenance, passenger-to-freighter conversions, business jet completion, engine and landing gear MRO, avionics, parts manufacturing, and technical training.

During the January-April period this year, the industry posted total revenue of 7.01 billion yuan ($1.03 billion), a 25.4 percent year-on-year increase — the highest on record for that period.

Overseas orders now make up more than 80 percent of Xiamen's aircraft maintenance work. In the first five months of 2025, Xiamen Customs recorded 51 overseas aero-engine maintenance deliveries, up 21.43 percent year-on-year.
